Fresh coconut (grated)
Jaggery
Cardamom Powder (Elaichi)
Ghee
Banana leaf (Pieces)
Recipe
Step 1: Place a pan on the gas stove and bring water to a boil.
Step 2: Gradually add boiling water to rice powder, mixing with a wooden spatula/spoon. Once the mixture cools a bit, knead it with your hands to form a soft dough. Set aside.
Step 3: Combine grated coconut, grated jaggery, and cardamom powder with your hands until well combined.
Step 4: Take a piece of banana leaf and place a lemon-sized dough in the center.
Step 5: Flatten the Ela Ada rice dough with wet fingers to achieve an even, flattened dough. Fill one side of the flattened dough with a teaspoon of coconut-jaggery mixture, then fold from the other side and press lightly.
Step 6: Place the Ela Ada in a steamer or idli cooker, steam for 10 minutes on high heat, and then turn off the heat.
Step 7: Once done, serve the Ela Ada warm or at room temperature.
