Hujiao bing is a type of baked bun that originated in the city of Fuzhou, the capital of China's Fujian province. It is a street food that has a flaky biscuit-like bread with a sweet and savory filling made of sugar, soy sauce, white pepper or black pepper, and scallions.

Ingredients
1 pound ground pork
2 TBSP soy sauce
1 TBSP sesame oil
1 TBSP rice wine
1 tsp freshly grated ginger
1 medium garlic clove
minced
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp sugar
1/2 tsp white pepper
1/2 tsp five-spice powder
1/4 cup chopped scallions
1 lb pizza dough
1 egg
beaten
Recipe
Step 1: Preheat the oven to 375°F.
Step 2: In a large bowl, combine ground pork, soy sauce, sesame oil, rice wine, ginger, garlic, salt, sugar, white pepper, five-spice powder, and scallions.
Step 3: Divide the pizza dough into 8 equal pieces.
Step 4: Roll each piece into a ball and flatten it into a disk.
Step 5: Spoon about 2 tablespoons of the pork mixture onto the center of each disk.
Step 6: Gather the edges of the dough around the filling and pinch them together to seal.
Step 7: Place the buns seam-side down on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Step 8: Brush the beaten egg over the buns.
Step 9: Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
