Jiaozi is a Chinese dish consisting of a filling wrapped in a thin dough wrapper. The filling can be made with a variety of ingredients, including meat, vegetables, and seafood. Jiaozi can be boiled, steamed, or pan-fried.

Description

Ingredients

48 dumpling wrappers
1 pound ground pork
3 green onions
minced
1 garlic clove
minced
1 carrot
peeled and finely grated
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 tablespoon sesame oil
1 tablespoon Shaoxing wine
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Recipe

Step 1: In a large bowl, mix together the ground pork, green onions, garlic, carrot, soy sauce, sesame oil, Shaoxing wine, salt, and black pepper.

Step 2: Place a spoonful of the filling in the center of a dumpling wrapper.

Step 3: Wet the edges of the wrapper with water and fold the wrapper in half, pressing the edges together to seal.

Step 4: Repeat with the remaining wrappers and filling.

Step 5: To boil the dumplings, bring a pot of water to a boil and add the dumplings. Cook for 5-7 minutes, or until the dumplings float to the surface.

Step 6: To pan-fry the dumplings, heat a tablespoon of oil in a non-stick pan over medium-high heat. Add the dumplings and cook for 2-3 minutes, or until the bottoms are golden brown. Add 1/2 cup of water to the pan and cover with a lid. Cook for 5-7 minutes, or until the water has evaporated and the dumplings are cooked through.

Step 7: To steam the dumplings, place them in a steamer basket lined with parchment paper. Steam for 10-12 minutes, or until the dumplings are cooked through.
